ARE provides rail bridge inspections, rating and strengthening plans for BLU
ARE inspected, rated and then provided strengthening plans for Blue Ridge Southern Railroad (BLU) Deck Truss located in North Carolina. The rating was performed using SAP 2000. A 3D finite element model was created and rating showed that the truss did not rate for 286K traffic.
Members that did not rate for 286K traffic were identified for strengthening and plans were generated to provide the most cost-effective repair plans. ARE worked in conjunction with the contractor to ensure that construction costs and shutdown were minimized.
These concise repairs helped save the BLU railroad close to $500,000, allowing them to stay under budget.
