ARE is a fast-growing engineering and technology company with an expanding geospatial division. We’re seeking a qualified Geospatial Business Development Manager to generate new business opportunities while fostering relationships with existing customers. This is an opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing team using advanced technological solutions. With the support of our expert technical team, project managers, and engineers, the Business Development Manager will be a vital link between our team and our customers.

The Business Development Manager will have successfully demonstrated business development capabilities representing geospatial services within a particular region, vertical market or federal space. A background in the geospatial profession including LiDAR, aerial imagery, photogrammetry, or GIS services is also required. A successful candidate will have a four-year degree in a related field and at least five years business development experience within the profession. Remote work will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop recurring geospatial business opportunities and sales new to ARE Corp
  • Establish a customer network focused on decision-makers in order to develop business focused on aerial and terrestrial geospatial data collection, analysis, and GIS services
  • Research, investigate, and produce winning strategies for future contracting opportunities
  • Write proposals, provide ROMs, and develop project scopes
  • Track customer interactions and opportunities through the company’s CRM system
  • Manage changes to project scope via change orders and internal/external communications
  • Support business development activities including, but not limited to, representing the company in client meetings and conferences, and by fostering the development of long-term relationships with new and sustained clients, as well as partner companies
  • Provide detailed trip reports and tracking of leads, opportunities, and closed sales
  • Communicate business development activities and provide weekly report out to VP, Geospatial Technologies
  • Maintain oversight of projects throughout lifecycle to ensure client expectations are met and client experience is positive
  • Assist with marketing and branding efforts by providing input to marketing team and participating in marketing events and webinars
  • Work as part of the business development team to assist in improving and growing the geospatial technology group to help with the success of ARE Corp as a whole
  • Work closely with the Geospatial Processing Team to keep up to speed with capabilities and align with customer need
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills including attention to detail, multitasking, and reporting
  • A general understanding of how to get from trajectory to deliverable
  • Comfortable using and learning a wide range of LiDAR, Imagery, and GIS software
  • Strong technical knowledge to understand client needs, translate into a clear scope of work, and understanding of ARE workflow and deliverables
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of geospatial sales and marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or geospatial related degree
  • Demonstrated experience in developing new and recurring geospatial data products and services business
  • Prior experience as a key growth influencer/driver in high-growth professional geospatial solutions
  • A strategic thinker with a keen ability to make recommendations to move the business forward
  • Outstanding communication skills, presence, and energy
  • Must be comfortable with geospatial software applications with the ability to present high-level product solutions
  • Compelling presentation skills
