On April 27, 2021, ARE was awarded the first-ever BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) waiver for utility line inspections in mountainous terrain.
In a collaborated effort, ARE and Eversource Energy are working toward the goal of utilizing BVLOS operations throughout the Eversource Transmission network. This waiver is a major steppingstone in proving out the safety case, technology and ConOps (Concept of Operations) for the end objective.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued ARE-AirShark a Certificate of Waiver, allowing certified Remote Pilots to safely fly a parachute-equipped sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft System) over people. ARE is one of nine organizations to be granted an operational waiver for flights over humans utilizing the Parazero Safe Air System.
ARE bridge inspectors will be using the proprietary software to expedite bridge inspection reports, better catalog data and simplify the inspection report process for clients.
ARE and AirShark, after finalizing a rebranding campaign with new company logos, have adopted a unified identity to represent AirShark as an ARE brand.
ARE pitched the first of four client demonstrations while the rail bridge inspection software was in its development phase. Feedback from the clients lead to minor adjustments with the software and excitement for the final product.
The acquisition expands ARE’s value proposition from inspecting railroad bridges and providing engineering services to utilizing the UAV as a means of incorporating data analytics into ARE’s safety management procedures, product deliverables and software workflow solutions.
The acquisition expanded Media Wing’s value proposition from video production to providing UAS Data collection and processing services. With a primary focus to engineering firms, Media Wing, dba AirShark provided infrastructure inspections, environmental mapping, data processing and video production.
Media Wing LLC was founded by Fred Depuy, providing customers with a full-service video production for marketing their business. With creative storytelling and aerial videography, the team created videos appearing on national commercials, the Disney Channel and much more.
Founded by Dave Anderson, PE and Angel Lucero, ARE completed purchase of bridge inspection rights and signs agreement with WATCO short-line railroad. Within just 3 years ARE will grow to managing 3500 bridges and inspecting 18000 bridge spans per year for multiple short-line railroads.
The first to receive an FAA 333 exemption for commercial drone operations in Vermont, AirShark was a pioneer in the industry. With custom built UAVs, they provided infrastructure inspections and mapping to local utility companies and engineering firms.
